A large retail company had been in business for several decades, and as the years went by, they faced an increasing challenge of managing their inventory and sales data. The company had over 0.5 million inventory records and 7 million sales records coming from single market, but their current system was not able to provide real-time insights into the inventory levels and sales trends. This led to frequent stockouts and lost sales, hurting the company’s revenue and customer satisfaction.
The company decided to address these challenges and improve their inventory management by building a Disaggregation of Inventory and Sales tool. They partnered with a technology company to build the system, leveraging the latest technologies and best practices to ensure its success.
The system was built using Node.js and Express.js, providing a scalable and high-performing back-end. The team used AWS RDS to host the MySQL database that stored the inventory and sales data, and AWS ECS to deploy the Node.js application in a container. This allowed the system to be easily scaled up or down based on demand. The team used Jenkins and JFROG artifactory to deploy the system to AWS ECS using AWS CLI.
On the front-end, the team used React.js to build a user-friendly web app that allowed the company’s staff to start and stop the tool, view logs for calculations, and generate output files that could be easily uploaded to the Supply Chain Planning tool. The web app used AWS S3 to store the output files generated by the Node.js application.
To ensure the security of the system, the team used AWS Cognito to authenticate users to the React.js web app through Azure Active Directory by Single Sign-On. This allowed the company’s staff to easily access the tool without having to remember multiple usernames and passwords.
After the system was deployed, the company noticed a significant improvement in their inventory management and sales forecasting. The Disaggregation of Inventory and Sales tool provided real-time insights into the inventory levels and sales trends, allowing the company to make informed decisions about their stock levels and sales strategies. The tool helped reduce stockouts and lost sales, resulting in increased revenue and improved customer satisfaction.
With the new system in place, the company was able to optimize their inventory levels and streamline their supply chain planning. They were able to improve their sales forecasting, and reduce the amount of time and resources spent on manual data analysis. The system allowed the company to make data-driven decisions, leading to a more efficient and profitable business.
In conclusion, the Disaggregation of Inventory and Sales tool was a major success for the retail company. By leveraging the latest technologies and best practices, they were able to overcome their inventory management challenges and improve their overall business performance. The system provided real-time insights into the inventory levels and sales trends, enabling the company to make data-driven decisions and stay ahead of the competition. The tool helped the company improve customer satisfaction and increase revenue, resulting in a more successful and profitable business.
